freelance writing do I need a diplomaMany ask, few believe when you tell them a freelance writer does NOT need a diploma of any kind.

While it is true that freelance writing for medical journals and other highly specialized publications do require degrees in the field of concern, as a general rule you don’t need a degree to write for magazines, websites, newsletters or any other freelance writing outlet of a general nature.

Don’t be fooled into thinking you need specialized training–unless you plan on writing about topics that require it.

If you’re interested in a particular subject matter area, do some research and study on that topic and make it your specialty. Many writers do this with great success, but know that many others write about art, music, finance, travel and other topics with no credentials other than their personal experiences.
