There’s only one smart way to send an article query letter to an editor, and that’s to send one you’ve written after studying the publication to find out what their needs are, who the audience is, and what topics have been successfully published in that magazine or on that website by other freelancers. If you query before doing these things, you’ll fail. End of story.
