Is Your Keyboard Right?

For many people, the choice of a keyboard for their computer is unimportant. For freelance writers, it is the single most important choice you make in your office. The wrong keyboard will increase your errors, cause pain in your wrists, and make working unpleasant–and you might not even realize it while it’s happening.

When you go to buy your nest keyboard, try out all the store models and make note of the following:

1. Are the low profile ones easier to use since they don’t have to be pressed down as much?

2. Is the clicking noise of one particular model going to drive you insane?

3. Are bigger, more substantial keys going to make you feel better that the smaller keys offered by some keyboards?

4. Is the shape of the keyboard comfortable and intuitive?

5. Are there any shortcuts on the keyboard that can help make your day easier? Like a calculator button, for example.
